Arm Strength & Conditioning Throwing Programs
The Jaeger Sports Arm Strength and Conditioning training and throwing programs are designed, first and foremost, to keep athletes Healthy. Our three step approach toward Arm Development — Arm Circles, J-Bands™ and Long Toss — not only address the health of the arm, but also promote other major benefits, including: Endurance, Strength, Recovery Period and Mind/Body Awareness.

Year Round Throwing Manual
Our Year Round Throwing Manual is designed to give players, coaches and parents a plan of action to find this out by not only optimizing the Health, Strength, Endurance and Recovery Period of the arm, but to gain insight into how to best “navigate” the four major seasons or periods throughout the year (Off Season, In Season, Summer Months, Rest Periods).
Jaeger Sports Throwing Programs is broken down into three parts:
1. Arm Circles – Arm Circles are designed to prepare the arm and body for the J-Bands™ routine, and eventually, Long Toss. Arm Circles increase blood flow, range of motion, heat and target the smaller muscles of the shoulder and surrounding areas along with many other benefits that prepare the arm for the Throwing Program. The philosophy is similar to stretching your legs to run. You would never consider going into a full sprint without adequately stretching out your legs. Likewise, we would never want an athlete going out to throw without fully preparing and conditioning the arm beforehand.
2. J-Bands – The Jaeger Sports J-Bands™ are an integral part of our Arm Care Program and a prerequisite to our Throwing Program. The eleven-step J-Band exercise routine is designed to balance, strengthen & condition the rotator cuff & surrounding muscle groups. These stretches are crucial for injury prevention, endurance, recovery period and increased velocity. It is an essential workout for any baseball or softball player whose goal is to have a long and healthy career.

3. Long Toss – Long Toss is a systematic approach to throwing based around two major principles: 1) The “Stretching Out Phase”, and 2) The “Pull Down Phase” (Click Here for our Long Toss Demo on Youtube). To do this safely and correctly, these two phases are based on a player being in “great” throwing shape. The main concept to Long Toss is that the players move away from each other in the “Stretching Out Phase” by throwing the ball with minimal effort, or what we call a loose, relaxed or “stretching” motion. To ensure looseness in the arm, we want the players to throw with arc (and the arc will get more accentuated as you move further away from your throwing partner). Once each player reaches their maximum distance that day, assuming their arm is prepared to “Pull Down”, the players will come back in toward each other approximately 10 feet per throw, maintaining the same “intent” of their furthest throw back into their throwing partner. We recommend players come all the way back in to approximately 70 feet with full intent for safety reasons. To maximize your Long Toss throwing, we strongly suggest that you don’t impose a time or distance limit on an athlete as every player’s body and needs are different on any given day. Be sure to “Listen To Your Arm” on any given day, as only it knows what it wants and needs. We highly recommend that you create the time and space, void of any time or distance constraints, to allow your arm to grow and thrive.
